Who I Am
Hello! I am currently in my 12th year of teaching, and this is my first year at Wheeler. I am very excited to be part of the Wheeler family!
Before I became a high school teacher, I taught adults in the corporate world. My teaching ranged from software to electronic products for three different Fortune 500 companies. I always enjoyed learning new methods, products, and environments. However, my passion was always literature, and I had wanted to become an English teacher since I graduated from school. I have a BA in English from UGA, and I have a M.Ed. from Georgia State in English Education.
I am a strong advocate for teaching you how to read and think critically. I want my classroom to not only help you this year, but for your future as well. The skills you learn this year will be skills you can take with you once you graduate. I am an avid reader, and I love a good story - whether it is in a book, on TV, a movie, or a song.
When I'm not teaching, you will find me reading other books, listening to music (all kinds), going to concerts, hiking, and cooking for my friends and family. I am a former resident of New Jersey, consider myself a Jersey Girl, and I do go home to visit my family often.
I am excited to meet you and get to know you this year, along with helping you improve your reading and writing skills no matter what level you are. If you ever have any questions or need help, please do not hesitate to let me know.
Let's have a great year!
Ms. Jennifer Sellman
